Docker Desktop No Longer Free for Some Businesses

Docker Desktop, a popular software development tool, is now available to many more developers through paid subscriptions. In the past, using Docker Desktop was free for all non-commercial developers. This means that if you're not a business and not making money from software development on your own or as part of an organization, then you can still use Docker Desktop for free. The Free Docker Desktop is still available, but it has a new name: Docker Toolbox.   Why does Docker consider that the old Desktop version is not for non-commercial developers? They say that "Early adopters who used the Docker Desktop application to deploy the public repositories on their local machines were already using a commercial product," writes Bao Bean, software engineer at Docker. "That doesn't make sense." So they introduced a change in how they charge for this free tool.
