Microsoft Azure is the world's first cloud platform and although it was created by Microsoft, it doesn't feel all that different from Linux or Android, as they are all open-source platforms. Learning how to do anything with Azure won't be easy but there are plenty of resources out there to help you learn each part of the platform and get started. Here we've compiled a list of 37 websites that will teach you how to use Azure for everything from hosting web apps to creating WindowsSets.

 

First, we'll talk about a few Azure concepts, then we'll discuss some of the ways you can learn and practice Azure skills.

 

Basic Azure Concepts

 

Azure is a platform used to build cloud applications. For example, Microsoft Office 365 is a web app that runs on Azure. When someone talks about using Office 365, they're using the application provided by Microsoft on their Azure cloud platform. Another example of an application built for the cloud is Salesforce which runs on the AWS (Amazon Web Services) platform.

 

Server, Client, and Network: There are three major components of a cloud system: servers, clients (such as web browsers or Android apps), and the network. When you visit a website hosted on Azure or AWS, your computer first connects to the Azure or AWS servers and asks for data. One server can host many different applications. The website you load in your browser is a client, which connects to the server via the network.
